Face Rhea, Saturn's second largest satellite successfully dijepret by the Cassini spacecraft. Rhea image dijepret Tuesday last week (1/11/2011),at a distance of 69 kilometers from its surface.
One image illustrates Rhea was in the middle, along with Saturn's rings. In the background of that image, photographed Saturn's other satellites arealso Dione (above Rhea), Thethys (far left) and Epimetheus (the point on the right Thethys).
In addition to these images, Cassini also snapped off a close-up imagesdepicting the surface of Rhea with craters and elongated fault. There is also a close-up images depicting the sun shadow on the bottom of the crater Rhea.
Rhea has a diameter of 1528 km. The satellite was discovered by Italianastronomer named Giovanni Cassini in 1672. Although Rhea is thesecond largest satellite of Saturn, its size is less than a third of Titan,Saturn's largest satellite.
Meanwhile, Cassini is a spacecraft launched by NASA to study Saturn, rings and satellites. Cassini has been observing Saturn from to enter orbitin 2004. So far, the image of rhea is the best image taken by Cassini.
